Shillingburg Wins Festival Poster Contest for Seventh Consecutive Year
“This year’s poster displays a beautiful geographical view of Destin’s amazing coastline and intercostals waterways. A compass rose is also proudly displayed within the poster, with a heart in the middle. This symbolizes no matter where you are, home is always at the center of the ‘World’s Most Beautiful Beaches’ and within the Destin Harbor,” explained Judy Shillingburg, watercolor artist and owner of Special Touch Gallery. “This year’s poster also features award-winning sport fish, shrimp boats, and seasonal anglers, which have become synonymous with our reputation as ‘the World’s Luckiest Fishing Village.’”
The theme of the contest for the official poster of the 32nd Annual Destin Seafood Festival was ‘Heart of the Harbor,’ in a nod to the festival’s new location right on Destin’s docks at the Destin Fishing Fleet Marina, City of Destin Royal Melvin Heritage Park, and Fisherman’s Wharf. Shillingburg’s entry was chosen from three entries in a vote by the Destin Area Chamber membership at the June 11 Business to Business Breakfast. This is her seventh consecutive win, eighth overall.

Golfers Invited to Enjoy NW Florida Gulf Coast’s Premier Amateur Tournament Sep 10-11; Portion of the Proceeds to Benefit Destin Fisherman’s Fund
The premier tournament for the Northwest Florida Gulf Coast, the Seafood Festival Golf Classic, returns to the Indian Bayou Golf Course on Sept. 10-11. A portion of the proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the Destin Fisherman’s Fund.
The Seafood Festival Golf Classic is designed to draw competitive players from across our region for two days of play. The format will be two-man teams, best ball. The tournament will be flighted at the completion of the first round.
The Destin Fisherman’s Fund helps the mates from Destin’s charter boat fleet and their families during a time when the fleet is being hit with elevated fuel prices, fishing restrictions, and, now, the oil spill.
“Destin was founded by hard-working fishing families. They are the ones who created the history and heritage that we celebrate here. Anything we can do as a chamber and as a community to help them when there is a need, it’s just something we should do,” said Chamber President and CEO Shane Moody, CCE, IOM.
For more information or to reserve your playing spot or sponsorship, please contact the Chamber’s Director of Events Risa Garner at (850) 837-2711 x2. For more information on the Destin Fisherman’s Fund, please visit www.DestinFishermenForChrist.com.
