LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival Apr 17-18

April 4th, 2010

Tallahassee, FL – Set for April 17-18, 2010, LeMoyne Center for the Visual Arts is paving the way for its 10th Annual LeMoyne Chain of Parks Art Festival, featuring some of the best regional and national artists and set under the shade of Tallahassee’s canopy oaks.

The Festival, which has become a widely anticipated annual springtime event in Tallahassee, Fla., features works of photography, sculpture, painting and more. Admission is free to the public, who can view and purchase pieces from hundreds of artists and enjoy food and family entertainment. Festival proceeds benefit LeMoyne’s educational programs.

New this year is the opportunity for emerging artists to take part in the Festival. With 10 spots open, emerging artists interested in gaining valuable business and customer relations experience can take part in this two-day event, now in its 10th year.

“Last year more than 40,000 people visited the Chain of Parks Art Festival,” said Kelly Dozier, LeMoyne Board President. “We are hoping to welcome even more this year as a result of our increased media efforts.”

A panel of industry experts will judge each artist’s submission, and winners will be selected in the categories of “Best of Show” ($2,000) and “Judges’ Choice” ($1,000). First, second and third place in each of the six individual categories will also receive an award of $500, $350 and $150 respectively. Visit ChainOfParks.org for more details, categories and requirements. Submissions must be postmarked by Jan. 22, 2010.

LeMoyne Center for Visual Arts

Located in beautiful Tallahassee, Fla., and named for Jacques le Moyne de Morgues who accompanied the second French expedition to Florida under Rene de Laudonniere in 1565, LeMoyne is a center for the visual arts that provides the local community and surrounding areas with fine art exhibitions, year-round art classes and special art-related cultural events. Located in the historic Meginniss-Munroe House (c. 1854) in downtown Tallahassee, LeMoyne was the first non-profit, community-based visual arts center in the Big Bend area of North Florida.
