Shrimp, Fish, Kettle Corn and More as Destin Seafood Festival Serves Up Favorite Local Dishes

Destin, FL – To help the Destin Seafood Festival celebrate its 31st year, some of the area’s favorite restaurants and caterers are bringing their best fresh seafood dishes and other specialties, including favorite dishes from the Back Porch, Café Grazie, Fisherman’s Wharf, Louisiana Lagniappe, and Pompano Joe’s; fresh homemade ice cream from Bruster’s Ice Cream; coconut shrimp and island shrimp creole from the Caribbean Café; fried catfish and sweet potato fries from CP Concessions; espressos and lattes from Cuppy’s Coffee; kettle corn and cotton candy from Kettle Corn; alligator and crawfish etoufee from New Orleans Cajun Cuisine; more than 20 syrup flavors from Mark’s Hawaiian Shaved Ice; homemade root beer floats from McGuire’s Irish Pub; scallops and snapper from MDM Concessions; Italian ice from Repicci’s Italian Ice; shark and oysters from Ruben’s Concession’s; all natural real fruit smoothies from Tropical Smoothie Café; and Hawaiian shaved ice and frozen mocha from Tropical Sno.

The 31st Annual Destin Seafood Festival will take place at HarborWalk Village, alongside Destin’s harbor, on Oct. 2-4. In addition to the wide selection of fresh seafood, visitors and locals will enjoy nationally known entertainment, arts and crafts booths, children’s activities, and much more. The headliners are Survivor on Friday, Oct. 2, and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts on Saturday, Oct. 3.
Nationally Known Headliners and Local Favorites to Perform at the Destin Seafood Festival

Survivor and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will take center stage during the Destin Seafood Festival’s 31st celebration, set to take place Oct. 2-4, along the Destin harbor.
The Grammy-Award-winning band Survivor will take the stage on Friday, Oct. 2, at 8 p.m. With 10 albums during its 32-year career, the band’s hits include “I Can’t Hold Back,” “Eye Of The Tiger,” and “High On You.”
Opening for Survivor will be Black-Eyed Blonde, whose explosive sound is set to begin on at 6 p.m. After almost 10 years of live shows, Black-Eyed Blonde has been rocking out to songs from bands, such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Radiohead, and Earth Wind & Fire.
The Northwest Florida State College Soundsations Show Choir will perform at 4:45 p.m. The Soundsations Show Choir, which performs a collection of music ranging from classic rock-n-roll to contemporary pop, is a musical performance group much like a Vegas floor show.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts will headline on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 8 p.m. The band’s hits include nine Top 40 singles, such as “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts’ opening act will be Ocean Street, whose über catchy tunes can be heard beginning at 6 p.m. With hits such as “Till I’m Gone” and “One Horse Town,” Ocean Street has received radio success at the college radio level, and its music is licensed for use on six MTV shows.
Local favorites will also hit the stage during the event. Chuck Lawson will kick off the entertainment on Saturday, at 2 p.m. Lawson is a songwriter and singer who performs a wide variety of genres and also has many fun-loving and upbeat, highly acclaimed original songs. The Forrest Williams Band will perform on Saturday, at 4 p.m., and is known for incorporating the acoustic guitar and the harmonica, while performing a variety of music ranging from soul to country to rock n’ roll.
The Sal Salaz Project is set to perform on Sunday, Oct. 4, at noon. Salaz, a master percussionist, has played in various Latin and Jazz bands and is known for his artistic hand drumming. Jones and Company will perform on Sunday, at 2 p.m., and is known for performing a variety of genres with an eclectic collection of music, which they perform with heart and conviction.

To help the Destin Seafood Festival celebrate its 31st year, a selection of 50 diverse vendors from all over the U.S will be selling their arts, crafts, and other products, including adult and children’s clothing; handcrafted paintings; silver, gold, glass, wood, hemp, beaded, and magnetic jewelry; homemade soap; golf ball markers; pro/college wind chimes; leather, straw, canvas, and personalized hats; bottled balsamic vinegar and oil; canopy chairs and Hawaiian sun chairs; flip flops; home décor; antique/vintage metal signs and posters; wood, glass, fiber, and metal art; cookbooks; purses and wallets; photography; personalized chalk boards; face painting and airbrush tattoos; and 2009 Seafood Festival t-shirts.
Inaugural Destin Seafood Festival Golf Classic Offers $25,000 Hole-In-One Prize and Sunset Cocktail Party
The Inaugural Destin Seafood Festival Golf Classic, the premier amateur golf tournament on Northwest Florida’s Gulf Coast, offers competitive golfers a chance for a $25,000 hole-in-one prize and a Sunset Cocktail Party at Louisiana Lagniappe.
This 2-day tournament will tee off on Sept. 11, at Indian Bayou Golf Club. Two-person teams are $550, which includes two days of tournament play, as well as one practice round, breakfast and lunch each day, and a cocktail party to kick off the event.
“With so many golfers in our area we wanted to create something that was different than the normal chamber golf tournament,” said Shane Moody, Destin Area Chamber President and CEO. “Those tournaments still have their place, but we wanted something competitive that will give the local golfers something fun, while at the same time hopefully draw golfers from throughout the region that will come in for the weekend.
The tournament features a best ball format and will be flighted at the completion of Friday’s play. Saturday tee times will be assigned after flighting. Prizes will be awarded in all flights. This tournament will begin the celebration of the 31st Annual Destin Seafood Festival, set for Oct. 2-4, on the Destin harbor.

Visit the Destin Area Chamber of Commerce to purchase your 31st Annual Destin Seafood Festival admission passes today. Passes are $5 per day for Friday and Sunday, $10 for Saturday, or $15 for the entire 3-day festival. The Chamber is located at 4484 Legendary Drive, Suite A, at the entrance to Regatta Bay.
