Daytona Beach, FL – Get ready race fans, Speed Week is heating up at Daytona International Speedway with more NASCAR and ARCA events. The Budweiser Shootout is the first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series with the DAYTONA 500 coming up fast in the rear view mirror.

Rolex 24 at Daytona

Jan 23 – Fresh From Florida 200

The Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series is sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, the premier road racing organization in North America.

Jan 24 – Rolex 24 at Daytona

The Grand-Am Rolex 24 hour race takes place on the 3.56 road course.

Feb 07 – Budweiser Shootout/ ARCA 200

The Budweiser Shootout is made up of two segments: a new, longer 25-lap segment, followed by a ten-minute intermission. After the intermission, the race concludes with a 50-lap segment.

The ARCA 200 at Daytona Daytona Int’l Speedway is 80 laps / 200 miles. Race start is set for later in the afternoon.

Feb 8 – Daytona 500 Qualifying

Only the top two drivers (which will be the front row) will be locked in. The remaining spots will be determined by the top 14 finishers excluding the front row drivers in the two 150 mile Gatorade Duels, scheduled for Feb 12 The remaining spots will be determined by exemptions, the fastest speeds and a champions provisional if needed. This race is held the Sunday before the Daytona 500.

Feb 12 – Gatorade Duel at Daytona

The Gatorade Duel is the preliminary event to the Daytona 500. It consists of two 150-mile races, and serves as a qualifying race for the Daytona 500. The finishing order in the two 150-mile races, held on Thursday, determine the starting lineup for the Daytona 500 held on Sunday. Qualifying for the Daytona 500 is unique in NASCAR. Only the two front row starters are determined by Daytona 500 Qualifying.

Feb 13 – Daytona 250 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series

This is the first year of the new sponsorship by the Camping World Truck Series and is the first race of the season for the NASCAR Truck Series at Daytona International Speedway.

Feb 14 – Camping World 300

The Camping World 300 is the first race of the NASCAR Nationwide Series season.

Feb 15 – DAYTONA 500

DAYTONA 500

The 2009 Daytona 500 is the 51st annual running of “The Great American Race”. The Daytona 500 is NASCAR’s signature event and this year’s race kicks off the new NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Last year’s 50th anniversary race was run to a sold out crowd with 42 lead changes among 16 drives, the second highest in NASCAR history. In the end Ryan Newman made a last-lap pass on Tony Stewart to win his first ever Daytona 500, this year’s race promises to be just as exciting. If you’d like to catch all the action in person, which most race fans will tell you is the best way, be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible because this is the most coveted ticket in motorsports and has been a sell out since the race was first run in 1959.
