Devito South Beach brings a touch of Hollywood to Miami Beach’s Ocean Drive
June 14th, 2007
Miami Beach, FL – DeVito South Beach brought Ocean Drive’s trendy South of Fifth district to a standstill last night during the exclusive VIP sneak preview of the restaurant, prior to opening its doors to the public on Monday, June 18, for which reservations are now being made.
Renowned South Florida restaurateur David Manero, together with partners Michael Brauser and Emmy award-winning actor Danny DeVito, hosted a spectacular invitation-only grand opening event for a select few hundred of Miami’s most seasoned tastemakers, along with special VIPs and celebrity guests.

The highlight of the evening saw Miami Beach city commissioners Michael Aller and Simon Cruz award three keys to the city to the three restaurant partners, as part of a special presentation in front of a throng of international media that lined the red carpet. “I can park anywhere I want now,” joked DeVito, with microphone in hand, in front of hundreds of public onlookers.
“We’re thrilled to be honored by The City of Miami Beach with this prestigious accolade,” said David Manero, the brainchild behind the DeVito South Beach concept. “We truly believe we are introducing a one-of-a-kind restaurant to South Florida. The capacity attendance at our exclusive VIP opening gala last night demonstrates the all-round appeal that Danny DeVito has among our premier clientele. Furthermore, exceptional service and culinary integrity will be our number one goal at DeVito South Beach.”
Danny DeVito joined other celebrity guests including John “CHA CHA” Carcia, Pat Riley and Brooke Hogan as well as cast members from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, DeVito’s current television show on FX. Guests of the night experienced a divine sampling of passed hors d’oeurves created by Executive Chef Francis Casciato.
“Our three areas of business expertise comprise a winning formula for DeVito South Beach,” said Michael Brauser, a native South Floridian. “No other restaurant in the region has a celebrity of this ilk, together with a restaurateur with such a distinguished track record in the industry. From the response we’ve had so far in the community, we have our sights set on incredible things for the future of DeVito South Beach.”

Manero has employed a well-traveled culinary team, spearheaded by Executive Chef Francis Casciato, who brings a traditional Italian Chop House concept to DeVito South Beach with a unique array of the very finest fresh ingredients for bold and contrasting flavors and textures in his recipes that reflect the season. The Global Steak Flight will be the restaurant’s signature dish that will include a presentation of premium Kobe steak from three different regions of the world — authentic Japanese Kobe Beef, Australian Wagyu Rollatini and American Kobe Flat Iron. The architecture of the food has been developed to “touch all the senses” according to Manero.
“I’m proud of every single inch of it. The food is so good it’ll make your head spin,” said DeVito. “This is gonna be the damn hippest place on the planet.”
